the oldest vine in the world
Maribor, the capital of Styria (Stajerska) and the oldest part of the town will enchant you with its Old Vine, the oldest vine in the world and medevial towers and remains of the old town walls. The tourist farms and wine shops along the roads in Styria are excellent choices for lovers of exeptional wines and culinary delights. For those who like adrenalin and sport rafting along the river Drava is recommended.

kurent - the carnival figure
The most important carnival event in Slovenia is »kurentovanje«, which got its name after the festival's central figure »Kurent«. In the past it was belived that Kurent has the power to chase the winter away and usher the spring. During the extravagant festival, groups of »Kurents« dress in sheepskins with cowbells hanging from their belts. This mask is a major work of folk art in Slovenia. Interesting is also Zice Carthusian museum which is a unique history monument and mill on the Mura river.

the cviCek story
Matjaz's house or "Matjazeva domacija" is located in Paha village in the Dolenjska region. It is a 150 year old restored country house where you can taste a loaf of homemade bread, salami sausage and local wine cvicek. The story begins with an invitation into the cellar for a glass of this interesting wine sort and it is followed by a media presentation. First you will learn about the history of the wine, how it is produced, from the early spring to St. Martin's Day. Afterwards you will have an oppurtunity to taste cvicek. You can also relax in the newest and most modern part of Terme Olimia spa - Wellness Orhidelia or you can enjoy in wine tasting in special underground cellars called "repnice".

breathtaking view over carinthia
Observe the terrific landscape from Panoramic Tower Pyramidenkogel at Worthersee in Carinthia. The unique position allows an overwhelming sight over Carinthia's charming mountains, lakes and valleys. One of the most spectacular views is to be seen driving up the Glossglockner road. The capital Klagenfurt is characterized by magnificent renovated Renaissance and Baroque buildings and picturesque narrow streets. Slovenia and Croatia
ribnica - the home of wood
One of the oldest towns in Slovenia and well known for its natural and cultural heritage and ethnographic events: wooden ware, pottery fair and crafts festival. A special trademark of the Ribica valley is woodenware making and pottery, the crafts with a rich and long tradition. Attention worth are also Lipica - the home of world wide known Lipizzaner horses, Hrastovlje village with its "The dance of the dead" fresque and Krizna cave, one of the best known Karst caverns in the world.

caves of the carst
Postojna Cave is one of the most beautiful caves in the world and the biggest European cave. It is a labyrinth of subterranean passages, filled with fantastical rock formations. It is also a home to the »Proteus Anguins« (also called »human fish«), a unique creature with no eyes. Worth of your visit are also Skocjan caves (in UNESCO world herritage list), Predjama castle which is perched proudly in a rocky cliff over 100 meters high and Cerknica lake, the largest »disappearing lake« in Slovenia.

THE ISTRIAN TRUFFLE
You can taste the world famous white Istrian truffle in the Istrian »Truffle Capital« in small town Buzet. On the Virgin Mary's birthday townspeople prepare a giant omlette filled with truffles in the town square. Among others interesting Istrian villages are also Groznjan (famous for being the seat of International cultural centre for young musicians), Opatija (a popular health resort) and Motovun (one of the most beautiful towns of the Mediterranean).

PULA - THE SPIRIT OF ANCIENT TIMES
The most important monument is the Amphitheater (Arena of Pula), which was once the site of bloody gladiator fights and later knights' tournaments. During summer the Amphieater offers a variety of interesting cultural and entertainment programs. Sights worth of your interest are also Poreč with the 6th century Euphrasian Basilica, Rovinj, the pearl of the Istrian penninsula and National Park Brijuni (an island group with 14 islands and islets).

NORTHERN ADRIATIC ISLANDS
Pag is the island with the longest coast line and world renowned for its authentic cheese, laces and small island towns with their traditional Croatian music evenings and fishermen's summer festivities.
Krk is often called »The Golden island« because of its wealth. It is also known for its autochthonous sort of grape produced by local winemakers and Baška village, popular for its beautiful pebbles beaches.
The old town of Rab island is recognizable by its four mediveal bell towers that rise above ancient stone streets. Each summer the old town hosts the traditional knight tournament called »Rapska fiera«, when you can enjoy in medevial crossbow tournament and workshops of various kind.

Croatia
taking pictures at plitvice lakes
This national park is listed as UNESCO World Heritage site with extremly wide variatey of animal and bird species. Sixteen beautiful lakes, crystal clear and turquise are situated one beneath the other in forested mountain area. The cascading waterfalls of aqua tranquility will have you reaching for the digital camera…In the nearby village Rastoke you can visit flour mills, take a cup of coffee in the local resturant or simply enjoy in the tranquility of the surroundings.

CROATIAN CULTURE IN ZAGREB
The capital city that has a lot to offer to those who want to experience Croatia culture. You can visit several museums, monuments, galleries and parks or you can wander through the open-air market with a coffee in hand and take in the beauty of the city's mediveal architecture and rich history. Take a cable car to Medvenica mountain (in close proximity to Zagreb) which due to its landscape trails, mountain houses, historical monuments and recreational areas gives an impression of a city park.

WINE TASTING IN BARANJA COUNTY
The Osijek-Baranja County is a region in the North-eastern Croatia with its two wine growing hills of Baranja and Erdut. This region got its name after the Hungarian word »boranya«, meaning »the wine mother«. There are several wine cellars in this area famous for their location in the loess layers, and well known outside the borders of Croatia for their special attraction. The most famous wine is Welschriesling…Interesting visit in the area is also Lipizzaner stud farm in Dzakovo where you can also enjoy in folklore festival "Dzakovacki vezovi".

BIRDWATCHING IN KOPACKI RIT
A nature park, one of the most important and attractive wetlands in Europe. Kopački rit owes its uniquely soggy character to seasonal flooding, caused (usually in spring and autumn) when excess rainwater slows up the nearby Drava and Denube rivers, which begin to overflow their banks. This way, large areas can remain under water for weeks or months, creating the perfect haven for water creatures and birdlife. Visit a nearby Tikves castle, hunting castle which served as a hunting resort where also the Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito resided or just simply enjoy fishing in Kopacevo village.

ZADAR AND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS IN THE WORLD
A city with a rich heritage. Its attractiveness is due greatly to its fantastic natural position in the very middle of the Adriatic coast. This area is also known for world's first musical pipe organ played by the sea (Sea Organ). Next to it now shines the Greeting to the Sun. It is a spatial installation in form of amfiteater surrounded by a stylized display of all Solar System planets and their orbits.

SPLIT AND DIOCLETIAN PALACE
This is the home of the Roman Emperor - Diocletian who started to build his palace around 293 AD. Diocletian's mausoleum was turned into a cathedral, and nowdays the palace's crumbling courtyards provide a perfect setting for some of the best bars in the Mediterranean. When discovering the city you must wonder through The Riva, a broad street right on the waterfront that runs the lenght of the old town and hugs the palace on its south side. The big city today lives by the silent beats of history and its particular Mediterranean charm.

WALKING DUBROVNIK WALLS
Dubrovnik, the Roman city of Ragusa developed into a city-state and remained independent and prosperous for more than a millennium. An absolute must is to walk on Dubrovnik's city walls, which are among the best perserved and most attractive on this planet. One of the delights that awaits you at the Peljesac penninsula is the gastronomic heaven of Mali Ston. The narrow lagoon dividing Peljesac from the mainland is rich in premium quality oysters.

Bosnia & Herzegovina and Serbia
MOSTAR, THE CITY OF UNITY
The city is situated among high mountains of Herzegovina. Mostar was able to develop as the city in the desert-like landscape because of the river Neretva. The river turned Mostar very early into the trading centre of the region. Mostar got its name after the famous bridge and the bridge keepers. They used to guard the bridge and were called »Mostari«, thereby the city got its name. Also worth seeing is Međugorje - Shrine of the Queen of Peace, popular destination for pilgrims from all over the world and Hutovo Blato, a natural park where over 200 birds find their shelter every winter.

TASTE BOSNIA - EAT IN SARAJEVO
Sarajevo is a city of long list of good and high quality dining and rich history on the crossroad of Catholic, Muslim and Orthodox religions. Traditional restaurants offer excellent menus of Bosnian meals such as »sarma«, »teletina« (veal), »filled peppers«, »sitni cevap« (veal stew), »pastrmka« (local trout)…The Bascarsija is Sarajevo's Turkish district with its small shops selling brass ware and evil eyes and the smell of roasting kebab meat hanging in the air. When in Sarajevo don't miss the tunnel under the airport that saved Sarajevo and don't forget to cross the Latin Bridge where the Archduke Franz Ferninand was assassinated.

PETROVARADIN FORTRESS IN NOVI SAD
The fortress is also known as the “Gibraltar on the Danube” for its outstanding stories and its strategic position on the Danube. Due to the war with the Turks, the Habsburgs decided in 1716 to begin fortification works which took a great space of more than 16 km of underground galleries. These galleries are open for visitors and there you can see the loopholes and the underground pill boxes where the Austrian soldiers had their living spaces.

BELGRADE - KALEMEGDAN FORTRESS
The city of Belgrade holds some real gems. Belgrade's Kalemegdan Fortress is home to several city museums, galleries, memorials, the planetarium, and zoo, as well as the small cafes, restaurants and paths filled with locals and tourists seeking tranquility. This walking boulevard represents the centre of the Serbian capital all the year round and at any hour of the day. Enjoy dinner at the artists' quarter Skadarlija where you can find classic taverns serving traditional Serbian dishes as musicians roam from table to table.

THE SPECTACULAR SARGAN EIGHT RAILWAY
You can find the amazing Sargan Eight Railway close to the Bosnia & Herzegovina border. The track changes direction in such an extent that it is difficult to work out which direction you are traveling. Charming wooden carriages and sensational views make the excursion unforgettable. Approaching Mokra Gora, you will notice the ethno village Drvengrad, that was created by world famous Serbian film director Emir Kustorica. THE GUCA TRUMPET FESTIVAL
The festival is an extraordinary annual event better known as Guca and it is held every August. For a number of years it has been only a small celebration - a reflection of political atmosphere, but now it hosts a milion of visitors every year. The festival hosts some of the biggest thrumpet performers in the world, such as the trumpet maestro Miles Davis…One of the most important sights in wider region are the monasteries Sopocani monastery and Studenica monastery which is located in splendid mountain surroundings.

Macedonia and Albania
VISITNG SKOPJE
An ancient city which has seen plenty of action over the history: earthquakes, fires, floods and wars. The city has most attractive network of alleys below the Kale fortress. Skopje is also famous for being the birthplace of Mother Theresa. She was born in a house that was later demolished to make way for the City Shopping Center, nowdays a small memorial plaque marks the spot where the house once once stood, inscribed with her message to the world: »The world is not hungry for bread, but for love.« The oldest archaelogical locality from the Roman times in Macedonia is near Bitola, a ruin Heraclea which speaks of life and destiny of our ancestors.

SUNSETS OVER LAKE OHRID
Ohrid (UNESCO World heritage site since 1980) is the jewel of Macedonia. Ohrid lake possesses unique flora and fauna which are extinct elsewhere and the city of Ohrid itself is a beautiful collection of cobblestone streets on the side of the lake and when sunset comes, Ohrid's couples like to stroll down Marshal Tito Quay, along the lake toward the ex-Yugoslav ruler's summer residence, and watch the beautiful sunset…

MEDIEvAL KRIJA BAZAAR
A small medieval town with the attractive ancient bazaar - a street of little old shops which are all full of antiques, traditional felt hats, folk costumes, woven rugs and silver jewelry. Leaving the bazaar you can relax in one of the restaurants at the entrance of the citadel that offer great views of the surroundings and enjoy in Albanian folklore performance. An interesting visit is also a trip to spectacular underwater ruins in Apollonia.

BUNKERS IN DURRERS CITY
Durres is one of the largest and oldest cities in Albania, located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in Central Albania. Destination has lovely beaches and is known for its historic sights, museums and theatres. Interesting remnants of the long communist era in Albania are the numerous concrete bunkers found in and around Durrers, built in purpose of defending the country against a foreign attack that never came…To make a visit even more interesting take a ferry trip on Komani lake or enjoy in the ride with Dajti Express cable car to Mount Dajti in Tirana.

EXPLORING BERAT
An Ottoman town, one of the oldest in Albania with settlements dating back to at least to the 6th century B.C. Much of the city is built on terraces in the steep hills with the houses and their wide facades and large windows which seem to be built almost on top of one another, giving Berat its name of »The town of thousand windows«. The city has many historical monuments, containing narrow streets, mosques, Turkish houses and Orthodox churches. One of the most attractive towns in Albania are also Gjirokastra, known as "the town of thousand stairs" and a small fishing village Saranda, a popular tourist resort with fresh fish on almost every menu.
